01 / The Stakes

Timing Is Everything in the Portal.

The transfer portal gives athletes more control over their careers than ever before. It also creates more ways to make the wrong move. Schools that look perfect on paper can be wrong for your situation. Coaches who recruit you hard can lose interest once you arrive. Transfer windows are short, and missing one costs a season.

Answerman brings a structured, strategic approach to portal navigation: understanding your eligibility status, evaluating programs honestly, managing coach relationships, and making the decision that serves your playing career and your life after sports — not just the next two years.

02 / Our Process

"We don't just help you enter the portal. We help you land where you are actually meant to be."

Eligibility Assessment

Before anything else, we review your academic and athletic eligibility status, your remaining years of competition, and any waivers that may apply to your situation. Surprises here are expensive.

Program Evaluation

We look at depth chart, coaching staff stability, academic support, campus culture, and program trajectory — the full picture, not just the offer on the table. The right school fits your game and your goals.

Coach Relationship Management

We help you read recruiting interest honestly — understanding what coaches are communicating, what they're not saying, and how to manage multiple conversations without burning a bridge you might need later.

NIL at the New School

Transfer timing affects your NIL position at your new program. We factor in collective activity, market size, and program resources so your transfer doesn't accidentally cost you earning opportunity when you arrive.

Transfer Portal: FAQ

Questions Athletes Ask Before They Enter

When should I enter the transfer portal?

Portal windows are defined by the NCAA and vary by sport. Missing a window means waiting an entire season. We map out the relevant windows for your sport early so you are never making a decision at the last minute — and never missing an opportunity because of a date you didn't know about.

Will I lose scholarship eligibility when I transfer?

Not necessarily. The one-time transfer exception covers many athletes, but the details depend on your sport, your academic standing, and whether your previous institution imposes any transfer restrictions. We evaluate this before you make any public moves.

Can I still earn NIL income during the transfer process?

Generally yes, subject to your current and future school's rules. Existing NIL agreements typically continue, but new deals may be affected by your enrollment status or the restrictions of a program you are visiting. We review all of this.

How early should athletes start thinking about the portal?

Far earlier than most do. If you are a college athlete who might transfer, or a high school prospect who wants to understand the landscape before committing anywhere, a conversation now costs nothing and prepares you for a decision that costs a lot if it goes wrong.
